Suicide

My virgin attempt at suicide was tiring, very tiring. Sapped me of all my energy. It was a 4 day crash course or should I say 3. The final day was an examination consisting of 140 MCQ qustions and 3 hours.

Filled my brains with nothing but muscles, bones, heart, lungs, exercise, aerobic, anaerobic, endurance, special populations, consultation, food, nutrition, carbs, protein, energy systems, exercise programming and planning and a book that costs $98. I think I have forgotton the stuff I need for my work.

Sheer torture. Sheer information overload. An extremely long weekend gone just like that. The worst, I probably have to go for a resit.

It was nonetheless interesting and wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. For the very fact that most were application questions instead of testing you on the physiological aspects of many other things. I barely studied. Luckily, if you know, you know. If you don't, you don't. Studying wouldn't have helped much more. 2 of my friends felt much more 'cheated' for having spent tremendous effort in understanding the physiological aspects of fitness. At least, I know now, what I know and what I don't know.

At last, I can sleep in peace without that sense of guilt I have been getting. :)

Finding Volunteers

Where does one usually draw the line in getting volunteers to get a job done? Does the skill level matter? For that matter of fact, I just registered myself yesterday to be some "unskilled worker" for the fun of it.

What I'm about to say here is that, I thought for some of the skillsets required, they really ought to be paying someone for it rather than getting volunteers to get the job done. Just what are they looking for? Interpreters, media relations officers, "tour guides", program, transport and logistics arrangements etc. Many such positions require certain experience levels, certain skillset. This is an international event. If things were to go well, the name would certainly be big. Who's to know that the show is runned by volunteers? After the show, these are the people who's most likely to be forgotton. Unless something major comes on, I doubt the show will ever flop for something as big as this. When its a DO or DIE, of course, u DO.

Some volunteer organisations run on passion. Some run on benefits. No doubt there may be certain intangible benefits for the volunteers. But for "skilled"...I really wonder if its that easy to get these people to volunteer their time for an event that's not even for charity while getting measly benefits. Ok, I know volunteering isn't really about getting benefits out of it. But, I mean, its really different if you're a doctor or dentist and you give free services to the needy who cannot afford it.

Sometimes I think volunteers here are ill-treated. Sometimes I think they are treated like cheap/free labour, treated like full-time staff. Some organisations think of it as they are so high and mighty as those they are giving you a salary, so you are at their beck and call. And of course, I've seen some volunteers who ever so often think so highly of themselves that they think its a big deal to be sacrificing their time. Perhaps its really about not taking each other for granted. Surely, we cannot be running on passion alone?

What do you think?

Adidas Sale @ Expo

Total damage: $120 + $95!
That's a whooping $215!

Got:
Salomon shoes: My sports shoes are running out
Salomon jacket: No more hot & horrible ponchos
Salomon tee: Another hiking/gym gear dry fit
Adidas top: Can I just say it looks nice?
Adidas singlet: Only $10
Adidas sports sandals: Its high time to retire my Converse
Salomon guards: I'm clutz at blading..but...I'll still need guards right?
Salomon Day Pack: My > 5 y.o. Deuter is giving way with its inner lining disintegrating. Awfully.

Day 1: Lunch queue was horrible! It was when you discovered that being young and a student is certainly great. With holidays on and all the time you can spare. You could most certainly come and queue even before the sale started. The crowd thinned off as the lunch hour passed. It probably peaked again after work.

Day 3: Went again. Cos fellow adventurers wanted to go and we were nearby anyway. Sale has almost ended with most of the stuff gone. Many participants were seen there scouting for suitable sporting/adventure gear too after the outdoor cooking event.

Day 4: No more sale. You probably expect to see many Salomons in the streets now. TPAC members probably have more uniform dorned on. Last year, it was Bossini. This year, I expect it to be Salomon. We have "upgraded". Haha.

My Jolly Shandy

He's damn moody today. My dad said someone bullied him.....

Yeah...he's feeling a little pissy today because someone cut his hair. My dearie looks like a little sheep now. Meh meh..He didn't come and greet me at the door. He's also extra AA (attract attention).

At 1 year old, this is what he now looks like before having his fur trimmed.

Stupid Rule! Stupid Security Guard

I was in a darn foul mood as I was walking my 10 minutes out to the bus stop, all thanks to someone.

The idiotic security had to make it worse by making my busstop further.

Its like that, there are 4 gates on the way out, 2 on the left and 2 on the right with the security post in the middle. Coming in in the morning, we typically use the one on the right. The bus stop was towards the right hand side.

Thanks to some brainless nut. The only door left open when I go home each day is the left most gate, and the furtherest gate from the bus stop. Please make some send will you?

It was obvious I was darn pissed with the arrangement, having to walk a whole big round, making the already far bus stop even further. It wasn't even like I was going home at 8pm or later! Pissed with the arrangement and no cars around at 7pm, I was told to USE THE PEDASTRIAN CROSSING!

I ignored the stupid security guard completely, didn't look at him, didn't talk back. And guess what, he said I had an attitude problem.

Yes, I have a big problem. An attitude problem. So what?
Its better than having a pea brain.

Cheapo!

I am getting more cheapo by the day. I get my clothing because they were dumped into a trayful of clothes. I just bought 2 same designs but different colours that day for only $9.90 each.

Very busy swapping too. I just finalised a swap for a redken shampoo and a mask. I have another swap on the way, for masks too. Look how cheapo and lazy I'm getting. Too lazy to even go shopping in the department stores! I have too much skincare to get rid of anyway. So I shall continue to swap :P

The Male Chauvinist Pig & The Female Chauvinist B*tch

When I was young, I knew of MCPs. Now that I'm a little older, I invented the FCBs.
The definition of an MCP today, is a little blurred now. I have no idea what is an MCP anymore because, more often than not, you see exactly the same trait displayed amongst the female of the species.

Now, the dictionary defines chauvinist as:
chauvinist
n 1: a person with a prejudiced belief in the superiority of his or her own kind 2: an extreme bellicose nationalist.

There you have it. I guess it doesn't matter whether you're guy or gal. The truth is, at some time or other in your life, we were one, due to pride or ego. But, I am inclined to believe that it has made its point, more often than not, among the male gender. I have seen how often, the male ego got in the way of many things which they could have otherwise resolved much more easily.

We were all brought up to believe that the men were the pillar of our (women) strength. We were all brought up to believe that they are the hunter and protector of the family. How often do you hear the phrase, "What do you women know?". There you have it. Men who constantly belittle women. Men who constantly feel the need to put people down (especially women) in order to feel good and superior about their being.

I hate it. Absolutely adhore people with such egoistical mindsets. My dad was one and this gives me an even stronger reason to detest. While I see the need for one to take pride in themselves and their work, I'm sure the threshold in each of us varies greatly. As we get older and mature, the definition blurs and we are less likely find a true blue MCP to pin point upon. Still, there's nothing stopping me from recognising an MCP from 1000 miles away.

I've long given up debating on the conclusion because, such men will never think they are "wrong", much less listen to the opinions of "little women". And because life is really about complementing the strengths and weaknesses of each other. Sadly, people of such mindsets cannot be challenged or questioned. Nevertheless, I would make my stand clear lest, they hurl all sorts of nonsense from them. That's the FCB in me speaking.

Now...what's an MCP? I'm back at square 1.
